Parafed Wellington (Wellington Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association Inc.) is a non-profit organisation managed by a board of elected volunteers. Our goal is to provide or facilitate sporting, recreation or leisure opportunities for our members.

Supporting sport and active leisure for people with physical disabilities
For many people with a physical disability it can be difficult to join in or participate in a sport or leisure activity of their own choice. Parafed Wellington can make it easier for members to achieve that goal.
Parafed Wellington recognises the "No Exceptions" policy and is an advocate and facilitator for members with disabilities to have access to sporting and recreational activities. Parafed Wellington is committed to providing assistance and resources, including funding assistance for equipment.
Some of our programmes are integrated with mainstream sports and we have developed ongoing partnerships with many able bodied sports organisations.
Parafed Wellington has special partnerships with Sport Wellington, and in particular their Sport Development and Sport Opportunity programmes.
Boccia
Are you keen to learn a new sport?
Are you keen to meet people, and have fun?
Then come along and play BOCCIA
Boccia is a sport played by people of all ages who have a physical disability. It’s a cross between bowls and petanque and is played seated in an ordinary chair or a wheelchair. Bring your own drink/snacks.
Where: Knox Church Hall, 574 High Street, Lower Hutt
When: 1st & 3rd Saturday each month
Time: 10am – 12 noon
Cost: $5.00 per player

This event is being funded jointly by Parafed Wellington, Cerebral Palsy Society and Halberg Trust, to give people with physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in a really great sport.
